A downloadable game for Windows

Hifuu OS: Immersive hacking simulator based on the Touhou Project. Play as Renko Usami, learn and use authentic terminal commands to hack into the Great Hakurei Barrier. Unravel the truth behind Maribel Hearn's mysterious coma as you search through Gensokyo's secret and private documents.

Fully Immersive

Hifuu OS boots your computer into a vintage terminal-based machine from the 1980s. The purely text-based user interface brings you right back to the wild west of the early days of the Internet, where security loopholes floated all over the place. Communicate with in-game characters and progress the game via the built-in email.

Engaging Stories

Uncover the truth behind Maribel Hearn's mysterious coma as you search through private files from computers used by Gensokyo's residents and organisations. Accept the invitation from the lunatic elite hacker team EagleSec, alter the cybernetic world within the border as you see fit, and become a Gensokyo cyber outlaw.

Real Experience

Take the Kyoto University Computer Security 101 course as Renko, and learn the knowledge of using Unix commands to navigate and manage file systems applicable both in the game and in the real world. Familiarise yourself with a series of computer security concepts and practices while hacking into weakly-protected systems.

Always wanted a game like this, awesome! One small request: while wine works alright, a linux support would be great (considering in-game computer is also UNIX)

Also bug report: Alt-tabbing crashes the game.

Thank you so much for your support and feedback! We'll definitely consider support for linux. Your appreciation truly keeps us going

just finished the demo! instantly wishlisted it on steam; i'm super excited to play more of this. i like having the mystery angle intertwine so nicely with the hacking mechanics; it really makes you feel like you're renko, at the end of her rope and ready to use your knowledge in the true usami style. best of luck to the team!

Thank you so much for your kind words! Thrilled you're on board with the demo. Your excitement truly makes us more motivated

I am very hyped for this game. This is a great idea: a Touhou version of Uplink. Could you reveal how far along you are in development? And what's the expected release date?

Glad you're excited! We're thrilled you're looking forward to the game. Development is on track, and we are focusing on text content and polishing. For future updates, please wishlist Hifuu OS on Steam. Your support keeps us going!

I tried the WIP and it was very fun! Thank you for making it; I'm excited to see where it goes.

One question: Is there intended to be any 'failable' parts in the full game? In the demo there was nothing that would make you have to retry if failed; I think it could be fun if there was something like that—maybe the DDoS only brings the firewall down for a short time and you have to do what you can in that time before trying again when it comes up? I don't know; whatever fits your vision the best ^-^

Always love to see more Hifuu content out in the wild, so I wish you the best on continuing your work here!

Hi, thank you very much for playing and for your kind words! Your truly makes us feel even more passionate about the project.

Failable parts can definitely bring more challenge and excitement into the hacking action, especially with time-limited trails. We are indeed working on incorporating some of these elements and are thrilled to hear you mention them.

Once again, I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts and ideas with us!

I tried the game during the Jam period!
And I remembered it just today so I tried the latest demo.
Got the hang of the main mechanic, and the content left me wanting to see what's in store!

Thanks for your support and remembrance. It truly means a lot!

Just made an account here to say that I'm really looking forward to the release of this. Maybe even possible if this will eventually support steam workshop, once again, excited for its release.

This is incredible! I've been marathon running all touhou related games from itch (this is 272-th one), and this one is probably one of my favorites, even in this unfinished state. You know, there is just something... Charming about it?

Thank you so much for your support. It means a lot to us!

Can't wait for the full release! Do you have a rough idea of when it will be?

unless the full game requires you to hack into the server where its hosted and access it for there :p

(+1)

Thanks so much for your interest! Please don't hack us :0

Instead, wishlist on steam and we will keep you updated

Can you add an option to tone down the bloom? It's really aggressive.

(+1)

Thanks for your feedback. We added a bloom intensity slider.
